Bailey
Bailey was rescued from the Camarillo Animal Shelter when she was about a year old. We believe that she is a German Shepherd/ Beagle mix. Her prior owners sent her there because she barked too much (and she still does to this day). About a year later when she was about 2, we went on a vacation and left her in the care of a trusted friend who in turned took her to her parents house for a day. While at the parents house she was poisoned with an unknown substance. We were never able to find out, and her parents only admitted to giving her some cake, but she barks and they didn't like that too much. Bailey spent a month in Ventura at the Veterinary Medical & Surgical Group (VMSG) to the tune of 10,000 dollars. My friend went to see her daily and we were on the phone from Florida every day with the vet staff. Bailey was touch and go for awhile, requiring plasma and blood transfusions. Amazingly she bounced back from that and when she was 6 she started acting a little funny so I took her to the vet around the corner from my house, who assured me nothing was wrong. Not believing their diagnosis, I got a second opinion from one of my dad's friends who owns Agoura Hills Animal Hospital. Dr. Berry spent hours trying to figure out why her health was declining and we spent more and more money (3,000 this time) trying to save her. Dr. Berry hired additional staff to help out and when Bailey had just days left, maybe hours (her health was sooo bad) we got a diagnosis. She had a tumor on her kidney, but the diagnosis was bladder cancer. She went into surgery right away, and had the affected kidney removed. Bailey bounced back even quicker then the last time she was sick. She was up and walking around the parking lot almost right away much to the surprise of the vet staff. When I brought her home she gained 10lbs in a matter of days (she ate lots of steak and cheese). Bailey is now 8 years old and since then she has managed to tack on another 2 grand to her ever growing costs by taking my car for a spin and crashing it into my neighbors garage!!! She was seatbelted in the front seat and was looking for treats while I ran into the garage to grab something. Finding her treats she knocked the car out of gear, and it went rolling down the alley way into the neighbors garage!!!!!
